There’s a great blue heron in the wetland. The first of the season. But there’s no photo of it here. Do you know why? Because it is SNOWING.
Snowing.

I blog here as Wren, taking the Carolina Wren as my namesake, avatar, and totem.
Wrens are bright and cheerful little birds. I hope I can be the same and brighten your day when you visit. I'm proud to call myself a nature lover and tree hugger, and hope that sharing here will contribute to bettering this world of ours and inspiring a love of nature in my visitors.
Thank you for being here, for commenting, for helping to build a strong community of nature lovers, and for doing so much for nature, for wildlife, and for people in the "real" world.

robin – thank you for saying “climate change” and not “warming” – that’s a point we who care need to make over and over.
mary – I’m afraid this is going to be a Darwinian spring for our feathered friends. That may be necessary, but I don’t have to like it.
The local news paper today reminded us that we have now officially passed the all-time record for snow (since 1880, the first records we have). If it weren’t for the honor ….
Worse yet, it reminds us that we on average get around 4 inches of snow in April. In a normal year, that melts as fast as it falls. This year, I’m nervous.
Oh my! Does the heron know what season it is? ;o) Let’s hope you still have a Happy Easter, albeit a *white” Easter. “I’m dreaming of a white Easter” just doesn’t cut it. I sure hope this is the end of the white stuff for you and all northern bloggers.
Ground frost here this morning and a crisp 28 degrees. I think global climate change really gives us two seasons: winter and summer, with short transitions between them.
mon@rch – I will gladly trade 2 inches of snow for a single egret of any kind
mary – nice to know it can only get better, right?
sandpiper – as long as the flowers aren’t surrounded by snow, that’s something to look for
dave – I don’t know about spring. I think I blinked and missed the whole season.
Wasn’t spring a great day this year?
I had a junco hopping around on my snow-covered bonsai-pot window feeder this morning looking for seed! I took care of that…now I’d better eat, lol….
Somebody forgot to turn off the snow machine. Pretty soon you’ll be seeing flowers and feeling the warm sun again.
I know…I’ve heard…
Sorry…
Better, brighter days are ahead of you.
Mary
Snowing, ugg! Too bad you didn’t have Snowy Egrets there!
