I blog here as Wren, taking the Carolina Wren as my namesake, avatar, and totem.
Wrens are bright and cheerful little birds. I hope I can be the same and brighten your day when you visit. I'm proud to call myself a nature lover and tree hugger, and hope that sharing here will contribute to bettering this world of ours and inspiring a love of nature in my visitors.
Thank you for being here, for commenting, for helping to build a strong community of nature lovers, and for doing so much for nature, for wildlife, and for people in the "real" world.

There are several people *I* won’t be telling about that trick, either.
“Don’t tell Laurie about that trick!”
I won’t.
I thin he’s cute, but Australians don’t have any choice to think otherwise if they are to stay here
My boys used to delight in putting plastic spiders inside the toilet roll when they were young. This was so when I unwound the paper, the spider would JUMP out! Don’t tell Laurie about that trick!
HA – Laurie is the devil, and obviously very funny. And equally obviously, he has no problem being around small things either.
“But logic and small things with lots of legs don’t always go together.”
No, they don’t. I love all sorts of small things, and am quite at ease with them wandering around. But Laurie handed me a snail a couple of days ago, and it was wet and cold, so I shrieked and dropped it. Once I saw what it was, I picked it up again, of course. But I have to know what I’m handling before I can stifle the impulse to run.
Laurie is still laughing.
mon@rch – as you can see from the other comments, most visitors here agree with you
ann – I like the webs, too. We had one that lived under our back porch light in Virginia (pretty smart, if you think about it) and I miss having one close enough to watch like that
susannah – logically, you’re right. But logic and small things with lots of legs don’t always go together.
I haven’t noticed the curiosity you mentioned; mostly when I see them they’re just try to run away and hide.
Yes. He’s cute. And not scary at all; after all, what could he do to you?
These little jumpers are as curious as kittens. Try to look at one close-up, and see how he turns to follow you with his eyes.
Its cuteness depends upon how close it is to me! Actually though spiders are fascinating, and I especially like the intricate web designs that they build. I take pictures of spiders too whenever I get the chance.

Cool Spider!
fishing guy – I hear you! In this case, tho, I was trying to scoop him up on a piece of paper so I could toss him outside, and he was working hard on keeping that from happening. I gave up and got out the camera just before he slid under the molding.
Suzanne – welcome! You know, I used to be really scared of spiders. They still make me a little nervous, but I appreciate them more.
ree – welcome! it’s nice to meet an A2 neighbor. I’m glad you stopped by and even happier you like the little guy.
Yes, I do think he’s cute. Happy Wordless Wednesday from a fellow Ann Arbor-ite.
I saw you commented over at Miz S’s site and thought I’d come say hi!
I really appreciate how beneficial they are and how impressive they are for their small size. It’s an admiration I like to keep at a distance.
Wren: I don’t like those jumping spiders. They seem to enjoy scaring you by attacking. You caught it well on the white background.
