Less subtle second and third clues:

I blog here as Wren, taking the Carolina Wren as my namesake, avatar, and totem.
Wrens are bright and cheerful little birds. I hope I can be the same and brighten your day when you visit. I'm proud to call myself a nature lover and tree hugger, and hope that sharing here will contribute to bettering this world of ours and inspiring a love of nature in my visitors.
Thank you for being here, for commenting, for helping to build a strong community of nature lovers, and for doing so much for nature, for wildlife, and for people in the "real" world.

Right on both, Mary. I was in Virginia and the river is the Potomac. I’m glad you liked the photos, as I had fun playing around with taking them. And as you now know, the first photo is of the air force memorial. Those arcs really do suggest flight, don’t they?
Wren, did you take the photo from Virginia? It looks like you were quite a distance from the National Monument. And then you mentioned the “river” — assuming the Potomac River. I like your reflection shots. BTW, what was the first photo?
2sweet – you’re right, the last picture was a “gimme” I was playing around with the camera and trying to capture reflections in the river. Some turned out better than others.
I wouldn’t have known where this was if it wasn’t for the last picture.
It’s some place I’ve always wanted to go. I’m going to make it one day.
