it’s girls weekend out, what did you expect? (myworld #1)

in MyWorld

Of course, in between the nature expeditions we did some shopping

and a little wine tasting

I really like Sandhill Crane Vineyards, and not just for the picture on the label. The wine is good. They make a lovely ice wine, Northern Lights, and a delightful variety of apple and berry wines. Although I generally drink dry wines with dinner, I like good dessert wines, ice wines, and other sweeter wines for a delightful and refreshing appertif or as dessert. In addition, the vineyard is family-owned, local to the area, and gives back to the community. How can you not love a business that supports the Humane Society, the local wildlife refuge, land conservation, and Michigan Audubon?

Giving back is an important part of my world. Please visit “That’s my World” for other great places of the Earth.

Welcome, all my friends from the MyWorld theme. As some of you know, I have been traveling this week and thus not able to visit as many of you as I would have liked. I will get around to posts from everyone who commented here at least before our next round.

Thank you for all your comments. I am glad to find others who appreciate the humor in the puppy sign and also who like and support local businesses and those who give back to the community.

Just for the record, I was the designated driver and was careful about how much wine I drank at the vineyard (alas!). However, I did buy a case of assorted favorites to take home, as did BFF Judy.

What a cute sign on the teepee. Someone has a great sense of humor. I suspect you. ;-) The name of your blog is a great play on words.

Too much appreciate the wines, I think it important to support local businesses, congratulations. I thank the gentle visit.

Love that sign — someone really has a sense of humor…

This is a great post, our world needs as much support as it can get and starting near to home helps all in the long run…

A neat and funny start for My World. Great choice :-)

Could you still drive after all the wine tasting. Ice wine is so easy on the palate you can go on tasting it, on, and on, and on….
We live in a wine district too, I may have to return the favour and take you on a virtual here.

Enjoyed your post. The sign about the kids is to funny, really like that one.

I enjoyed this post and I liked the way you discussed the family owned business that gives back to the community.

Do unattended, rowdy adults get a free St. Bernard puppy too? If so, I’ll be on the next train! A sip of Northern Lights sounds wonderful right about now.

So, does that mean you guys tipped out of there a little tipsy?
:-D

Wren: Just a start into your world, I await more.

Heather – you are most welcome. I like to support local businesses, especially those that give back to the community, and I always enjoy great wine.

I saw on your blog that the Whooping Crane showed up this week, not last week when I was there. I guess I’ll have to make a return trip. What a pity!

Wren October 20, 2008 at 2:41 am

Klaus, You’re not the only person to ask me that. I don’t understand why everyone assumes I would be (or was) a rowdy child! :)

Klaus October 19, 2008 at 6:38 pm

So – did you get Fair trade chocolate with Espresso beans? And how’s your new Puppy?
Cheers, Klaus

Thanks for the kind words!

Heather
