Feed the squirrels, of course.

Welcome!
I blog here as Wren, and take the Carolina Wren as my totem and namesake.
Wrens are bright, cheerful, faithful little birds. I only hope I can be the same, contribute to bettering this world of ours, and brighten your day when you visit.
Thank you for being here, for commenting, for helping to build a strong community of nature lovers, and for doing so much for nature, for wildlife, and for people in the "real" world.

Robert – the squirrels are both tame and benign, and as they live in the middle of a college campus, they are used to lots of people being around, handouts or not. Mostly, they aren’t interested unless there’s clearly food in it for them.
We have the same issue down here with alligators and seagulls. Both are a problem: but it’s particularly dangerous with the gators. The ones that pose the most danger to the public are the ones that are acclimated to human contact and getting a free handout. Squirrels could be relatively harmless in that case however.
