The scenery reminds me of our home state of Texas.

Here is the post. I didn’t remove it, it’s right at the top of the blog

Rambling Woods

Yes I would say winter is just around the corner in your neck of the woods

Would you please look at the post I have for My World and tell me exactly what rule I broke that caused my link to be removed.

I have to agree that ‘the edge of winter’ is so poetic – a wonderful sentiment for your lovely image!

Winter is a comin’……Great photo

I hope the edge of winter stays away for a while yet! I’m just not ready for cold! We did have a frost last night and it froze my fountain…time to take it in. Lovely sky even if “wintery” :-)

Not long after I took this picture, we had a sprinkling of snow. Barely enough to dust the ground and gone before midday. The gray skies have stayed with us, however, and the temperature has dropped noticeably since this morning.

Friday I went out in a winter suit, but no overcoat, hat, or gloves and was quite warm enough. Today, I left work in my down coat, and wished I’d brought a hat and warmer gloves.

A photo that’s suits the title very well. :-)

Darkly cold and mysterious looking.

babooshka November 10, 2008 at 6:41 pm

It does look bleak, and atmospheric.

Rural Writer November 10, 2008 at 5:53 pm

That does indeed look like winter! You captured the “mood” perfectly. All gray and stark contrasts.

imac UK November 10, 2008 at 5:36 pm

You sure right, winters just around the corner, looks cold but beautiful.

Mojo November 10, 2008 at 5:01 pm

I’m with Louise… that’s a cold-looking scene! But with a forbidding kind of beauty to it.

Ivar Ivrig November 10, 2008 at 4:43 pm

Lokks just the same as here these days. Everything turns grey.
No, I was just flying by with a helicopter, it takes just 5 min in a boat from the harbour of Trondheim

Carver November 10, 2008 at 4:33 pm

That’s a lovely shot of your world approaching winter.

Louise November 10, 2008 at 4:32 pm

Those look like COLD low-flying clouds! I like the mood.

East Gwillimbury WOW! November 10, 2008 at 4:22 pm

Yep, winter is getting mighty close, isn’t it. ;-)

Sylvia Kirkwood November 10, 2008 at 4:13 pm

It looks as gray as here — although for the moment we have a bit of sun. Great photo and a reminder to get out the coats!

Agring November 10, 2008 at 3:21 pm

Wow! I’m not ready for winter yet. The picture is gorgeous.

Ewok November 10, 2008 at 2:02 pm

I like the gloomy feel of the foggy day. It’s beautifully captured.

Klaus November 10, 2008 at 12:24 pm

Does look as if winter is right next door! :)
Beautiful!
Cheers, Klaus

Very nice wintry photo, Wren! Here in the Point Pelee area we haven’t had any snow yet, just stiff winds and chilly rain. But it’s out there!

Fishing Guy November 10, 2008 at 9:33 am

Wren: It is starting to look a little stark in your world. We have lake effect snow north of our area and there are a lot of car wrecks along Lake Erie.

bevson November 10, 2008 at 7:23 am

Great shot almost like a painting and I love the poetical turn of the “edge of winter”.
