my world #6: classy folks

in MyWorld

Once upon a time in Virginia, this was a gas station.

In the fullness of time, it became a gallery featuring local arts and crafts.

It put the gas pumps to good use.

That’s a glimpse into my world this week. To see the world through others’ eyes, visit “That’s my World”, a weekly meme sharing photos and impressions of all the world seen through the participants’ eyes.

Unfortunately, the store suffered the same fate as the gas station before. The owners were friends of ours, and we were really sorry that it wasn’t able to survive. We moved out of state not long after, but I hope the next tenants kept the gas pumps.

So cool and creative. I love when they decide to preserve places as small museums and galleries.
Nice picture.

Those are awesome. What a creative way to include them in the current business there. Thanks for your comment. Our animal tree is my favorite too. It’s so happy. I have a picture of it on my desk at work and it makes me smile everytime I look at it.

Are they shouting the good news that gas prices are down? These are neat.

That is a well-dressed gas pump! Very creative!

mannanan November 24, 2008 at 9:21 pm

How quirky. How fantastic are they. I love it. Would love to see what the rest of the [place looks like.

Mojo November 24, 2008 at 9:16 pm

Makes you wonder what brand of gas they sold at this station. But it’s cool that they “recycled” the building. I always love to see that happen rather than seeing one demolished and some sterile, monochromatic new box put in its place.

Cool shot… for a Wings fan anyway. ;P

Those are great. If I passed them on the road, I’d have to stop and take a look at the art gallery and crafts.

Guy Dauphinais November 24, 2008 at 6:40 pm

Haha that is awesome, great pics.

Cheers!

Those are too cute and perfect for the front of an arts and crafts store. :-) I love the picture on the My World Tuesday page too.

Leora November 24, 2008 at 3:07 pm

Oh! I was hoping they were still used for pumping gas. You know, maybe we could have fun while painfully paying so much to fill up our cars? Cute characters!

Klaus November 24, 2008 at 2:35 pm

Funny! They should give more thoughts to the design at other Gas stations! :)
Cheers, Klaus

Ewok November 24, 2008 at 12:40 pm

Very cool. I hope even those in use nowadays get a make-over too. Wouldn’t that be fun to go gas up every time?

Have a good week.

Mine’s up too. I’m always early.
