These are sweet and lovely birds. I love their eyes.

Mourning Dove sounds appropriate for our Spotted Dove here as the call is very sonorous. This is a beautiful capture.

Wren: That was a beautiful shot and I enjoyed seeing the baby peeking out from being next to mom.

What a lovely capture!

This picture is from last summer. I was surprised when the doves built a nest in such a low hanging branch of the tree, even more surprised when I saw how big the “baby” was. I was able to duck in,grab a couple of quick shots, and leave with minimal disturbance to either of them. I like to think that the baby, grown up, is among the doves fluttering around our house this year.

Perhaps even the one that just flew up on our roof, carrying a beakful of nesting material.

How sweet. To see the little eye peeking out onto the big world outside is a lovely image.

thanks so much for visiting me….this is a lovely shot, peeking through the leaves, very natural and beautiful.

They grow so quickly, I’m amazed! The ones in our garden never lasts for more than ten days before they’ve flown out of the nest!

They have a ‘caught in the act’ expression in their eyes.
;)

So sweet and so peaceful. I love mourning doves. I think they can almost read people’s faces. These must trust you very much.

Oh you must have been extremely quiet when you took this. The birds look so peaceful and undisturbed :)

What big eyes they have!
Beautiful! :)

Great photo. Mom thinks she’s hiding, but I think the nestling knows they’ve been spotted.

James July 20, 2009 at 3:17 pm

Thats a really cool picture, but you gave away their hidding place.

Once more, Wren proves to the world that the real blogging comes out of Ann Arbor ;-)

Kelly July 20, 2009 at 9:35 am

Oh! What a beautiful shot…the leaves frame their eyes perfectly. This photo has so much emotion in it–I don’t know why, but I feel it (must be the eyes…) :-)

Corey July 19, 2009 at 8:46 pm

Nice shot! I love seeing Mourning Doves on the nest: they seem so trusting but wary at the same time…

Mick July 19, 2009 at 3:40 pm

Great photo. I agree with Vickie – I too like the way you have photographed them under a sheltering roof of leaves.

vickie July 19, 2009 at 1:54 pm

Sweet image Wren! Gives me a whole new perspective on leaves…. Generally, they are in my way, but in this case they create the mood. Love it.
