I blog here as Wren, taking the Carolina Wren as my namesake, avatar, and totem.
Wrens are bright and cheerful little birds. I hope I can be the same and brighten your day when you visit. I'm proud to call myself a nature lover and tree hugger, and hope that sharing here will contribute to bettering this world of ours and inspiring a love of nature in my visitors.
Thank you for being here, for commenting, for helping to build a strong community of nature lovers, and for doing so much for nature, for wildlife, and for people in the "real" world.

Absolutely beautiful shot Wren!
Nice shot and I got lots!
Great capture, Wren! That’s wonderful that you can watch the fledglings up close like that. I had high hopes of getting out to see the Cliff Swallows near here when they fledged, but by the time I made it back out there the nests were empty and all the babies were gone.
At least I get to enjoy yours, though. Thanks!
This was a rare treat, and a very enjoyable one. My luck in general is more like yours – close, but not quite.
But that’s what keeps us looking, isn’t it? Glad you enjoyed!
The fledgelings always look hungry…because they generally are always hungry it seems.
I’ve read that parent birds have an instinctive reaction to open mouths on baby birds. I can imagine otherwise they’d want to give up after the first hundred or so feedings.
Very nice!
Thanks, Bob!
What a pretty baby!
Indeed – you can tell the adults from the juveniles. The juveniles aren’t as sleek and glossy, but they are adorably cute.
Great close up.
It amazed me how much calmer the young ones were about my presence, compared to the adults.
Great photo of a beautiful bird, Wren!
Thanks, Mary!
Larry – I was lucky they liked my deck rail. I could stand inside and take photos through the windows, and not spook them.
Dawn – thanks; I have a few more to share this week.
Awe..Great shot!
Super close-up Wren! I really enjoy swallows of any kind. I can sit and watch their acrobatics for hours. I have never seen a baby Barn Swallow up close before. Look at that mouth will ya! Very cute.
Thanks, Mick! I was trying for that, but I won’t tell you how many attempts it took. Hurrah for digital!
A great photo – I really like the way you have caught the bird’s eye!
Lynne – thanks. the little ones are not as shy as the adults, making them easier subjects.
kelly – they are adorable to watch, especially a whole group at once.
…what a sweetie. These little guys are always fun to watch!
Love this photo Jane!!
