Although we had a warm and sunny fall, the approach of winter is becoming obvious. We’ve had a couple of light snows, and you can see in this photo that the grasses in the wetlands are dying down, leaving water open to view again.

Although there’s snow and ice in this photo, there’s still open water just a little bit downstream.

There have been a large number of Canada geese flocks passing through. The flocks have been large, and noisy, as well. They fly low this time of year, and it’s always a breathtaking moment when I realize I’m hearing wingbeats as they pass.

You did a great job capturing the feeling of winter coming in to visit. I like the colors of the old grasses – this is a nice series of photos. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful winter shots and I love the imagery of hearing the beating wings. That catches me by surprise sometimes too.

Great pics! I love the honking noise the geese make too as they say farewell.

The snow gives the scenery a peaceful look. Love the capture of the flying geese.

I would love to experience those wing beats. I have been flown over by a belfy of bat but that only gives me the heebie-jeebies wondering what sort of pests and diseases they may carry.

I like your description of what happens to the grasses and the ground as the winter settles in for its time slice.

Thank you all for visiting and for your compliments on the post and photos. One of these days I’m going to get an even closer photo of one of the geese!

It is cold I am sure, but it made for a really nice Sky Watch showing.

It does look cold, but I love the geese in flight and the blue sky behind them! Great shots as always, Wren!

Have a lovely weekend and stay warm!
