the decline and fall of mt snomore

In addition to bringing standing water, the warmer temperatures and gentle rain have significantly reduced the size of the plowed snow at the end of the driveway. Compared to January 11th’s post, this is a definite improvement.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that since this photo was taken, the weather has once again turned cold. No more melting, and no more open water, at least for the moment. Think warm thoughts!

What a beautiful view – you are so lucky to be able to see it every day

I’m thinking, I’m thinking, but we have had rain down here since yesterday!

You know, if i was a Snowman in your garden, I’d start an argument about the word “improvement” with you…

Wren February 3, 2010 at 7:58 pm

Everyone else in the US is on a diet, why shouldn’t the garden snowman be on one, too?

Wren February 3, 2010 at 7:58 pm

Nice to have a warming trend between cold snaps. We’re cold again, too, but the days are longer, and hope of spring is in the air.

I think most of us need to think warm thoughts about now! At least here, although not terribly warm, the sun is strong enough to melt most of our snow in a day or two after it comes.

Wren: Looks like you are fighting those gray skies, it was 5F this morning in Ohio.

I have my fingers crossed for an early spring. Here’s hoping for sunshine and warmer weather.

LAVOICE January 29, 2010 at 10:16 am

Great winter scene!
Happy weekend.

We’ve had two days of snow blizzards, so your driveway looks pretty good from where I’m sitting! Hope the cold temps don’t mean icy walkways though!

Antigoni January 29, 2010 at 2:01 am

I love all your snowy photos. We don’t see much snow here and i really enjoy seeing your posts. But i don’t know if you enjoy it too because you have to live with that snow every day.

Sylvia Kirkwood January 28, 2010 at 8:37 pm

Sorry to hear it’s that cold again!! I was hoping when I first saw your photo that things were really beginning to warm up! But as you said, at least there have been some blue skies! Stay warm and have a great weekend, Wren!

I am glad to see the snow piles go away and I have been thinking warm for awhile now. Happy skywatching!

The sky alone does have that cold temp feel to it. Stay warm.

Carver January 28, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Lovely shot. I’ll send warm vibes out for you although I’m kind of hoping we get the snow they are forecasting for my neck of the woods.

Wren January 28, 2010 at 7:55 pm

If not, I’ll be happy to share ours …

syel January 28, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Wren January 28, 2010 at 7:55 pm

Alas, it was back to the 20s today, but at least we had blue skies.
