oh boy — what beauties!
Thanks, Lisa – and welcome to Wrenaissance!
Cool looking shots of the Pelicans, Wren! They are one of my favorites.
Thanks, Eileen! They are interesting to look at, even when you can’t see the size of their well-known pouch.
what fantastic pics.
Know anyone who needs a pelican?
Just brilliant
Thanks, jo!
Great photos dear Wrenn! So many pelicans together! An extraordinary scene for me who is living in the kingdom of seagulls
I do believe I saw more pelicans than gulls this trip, which is most unusual.
Oh, that first shot made me laugh. Too delicious for words!
Look like they’re plotting something, don’t they?
Amazing pelicans. Great captures.
Thanks, Regina!
What a fun skywatch Friday post. I really enjoyed feeding the pelicans off a fishing boat while visiting Fort Lauderdale years ago. Your images brought back fond memories. Many thanks.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this post! One of the best things about blogging is sharing photos and memories with other people who share a love of nature and wildlife.
How nice of the pelicans to pose so sweetly for you.
And how rare for a bird to be so cooperative at the sight of a lens.
Top shots.
Thanks, J Bar!
Oh, wow, they are so cute . Love their colours
I really appreciate them much more up close.
These are fantastic! Especially the top one with all of the colors.
Thanks – I always have fun taking the photos, then just as much fun reliving the moment and sharing it.
this is cool! as if the pelicans really lined up for you to take a photo of them and the heron doesn’t want to be left out!
At least he didn’t step right in front of the camera!
Love those pelicans! And they do look as though they are enjoying the day! What marvelous captures! Hope you have a great weekend!
Sylvia
They seemed so well-satisfied that I think they must have benefited from some bait handouts earlier in the day.
Nice shots of the sky and the pelicans! The birds look really very cute!
And they were much more cooperative than the birds I usually try to photograph.
p.s. I am fond of wrens too. So nice that you have claimed them as an avatar!
Aren’t they great birds? I’m so glad you like them too.
Wren: Love it, those pelicans are neat and a heron at the end for the white color.
Yeah, it’s like the guy at the end didn’t get the “wear brown today” memo.
Adorable faces only a mother could love! they look so nice against the multicolours. Great capture with even greater postures.
I was amazed how close I could get. I have a close up of the feet of one of them I’ll post later.
The pelicans are such fun birds and you captured them perfectly here.
I really wanted to get a photo of one diving for fish, but the light was never good enough when I was on the beach.
Too Funny !!!it looks like a Pelican runway..all sitting there waiting on take off instructions.
Good capture.
It does look like that, but I don’t think any of them displayed that much energy while we were there.
These beautiful pelican photos made me miss the coast for the first time since we left last September. There’s just something about pelicans, such big grand creatures.
It was the first time I’d gotten such a good look at the brown pelicans. Usually I can only see them from a distance.
What can I say? The pelicans had a better agent!
How much money was involved?
Not enough!
It seems that you got your revenge for the Snowy’s beady eye by omitting the species from your blog post’s title? And the pelicans are SO pretty…
