Yesterday’s pair of geese have been joined by two pairs of mallards, all happily paddling up and down the creek. There’s a pair of mourning doves keeping company on the deck, and two male finches fighting over a single female. Despite any evidence to the contrary, the critters have made a seasonal declaration.

Wren: May they continue to come on North. We have Grackles for the first time and I saw two doves mating. They certainly are getting ready.
I saw my first grackle today! Now if only the Red-winged Blackbirds would arrive…
