One several strategies the various birds used to keep cool in the 100-plus degree weather. I like the wild look in the eye.
Different bird, same wild look.
Got birds?

great photos of the egret. This is a bird that seem to grow on me. I hope to see it in january.
Ah, does that mean you’re traveling our way? Tell us more …
Wild-eyed and hot, kinda how I looked after I mowed the lawn last week. Excellent captures Wren!
LOL, John – if you want more of that experience, you can cut our grass, too.
Definitely very cute! Lovely photos!
Very stylish haircut!
Ha! He does look like a bird with “character”.
The parents must be quite brave
Lovely pics Wren.
I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right. That beak looks pretty fierce when you think about getting up close while holding food.
Wild is right Wren. Beware of wild bird with crazed look in its eye and a big, sharp beak!
Nice shooting!
Cute – yes! But a bit wild too! Great photos.
Sweet shots Wren!
I sympathize completely with you on the temperatures, of course. Great capture of the young egret. It looks so, “FEED ME!!!” *L*
Wren: It is a beauty. Is this from your Florida trip?
Yes, it is. I still owe Klaus big time for all the great photos I got at Gatorland.
Fantastic shots and that bird is beyond cute. I love the wild punk look in the first shot and the watchful look in your second shot.
Thanks for visiting my blog and to answer your question the beach is Atlantic Beach North Carolina. It’s across the bridge from Morehead City, NC. Somewhere close by is Beaufort, NC not to be confused with Beaufort, SC. It’s about an hour from New Bern, NC. Not sure if that helps.
I guess teenage birds have a rebellious phase, too.
Great shots of the Egret, Wren! I love the closeup.
I couldn’t believe how close we could get for photos. Klaus had the advantage, being taller, but I still managed some good ones.
That’s really hot! – and the hair gets all messed up, too.
Great shots!
It’s hard to express in words how hot it was that day!
