my world without snow (for the moment)

wren's driveway with no snow in it

Mr Wren and I have been gadding about (more of our travels in later posts). It was a delight to come home this morning and find that the snow was indeed completely gone. I haven’t seen the rocks at the end of our driveway since December.

I’m sure we still have some cold days and freezing rain/snow in our immediate future, but I can’t help but celebrate these small oases of spring as they occur. We still have high water in the wetlands, and a great blue heron was taking advantage of it to stalk fish and frogs and other edibles. I heard a chorus of blackbirds calling, not just the one early arrival I saw earlier, and the house finches are still courting. A cute little female just perched on the window sill and looked in to see me working away.

Happy spring to one and all!

My World

The world is so full of a number of things,
I’m sure we should all be as happy as kings

  1. Lovely …. Wish it was my driveway! The sun is shining and the temperature is lovely, so the sping is just around the corner!

Wish you a great day! And thanks for visiting!

  2. Spring has finally sprung for you. How exciting! It still does look cold but the promise of the new season brings forth a lot of life. I’m with you on celebrating it. Cheers!

  3. Spring is coming, isn’t it?? Even though it’s still a tad hard to believe some mornings!! But I have faith! And there’s a definite promise in your photos! Hope you have a fun week!

  4. I’m glad to see you came home and all of the snow is gone. Here in Maine, during the first full day of Spring, we are having a good ole snowstorm.

  5. I see your dogwood bushes survived the winter. Mine get buried under tons of snow and somehow manage to come back when it finally melts in the mountains. Think spring, Wren!

  6. I love your misty wetland. Like you, I, too, am glad to have the snow gone, or I was. It is snowing again today. But, this snow will not be deep or last long. And the birds are set to return in droves. I just know it! Happy Spring to you too, Wren and Mr. Wren!
