Despite the snow, there’s open water in the wetland. Two pair of mallards are hanging out. Not exactly the first robin of spring, but this time of year they are the most interesting birds on the block.
What do you expect? It’s winter

Just so you know, I’ve read back through several of your previous posts for which comments are now closed.
Life IS so full of changes, often unexpected. glad to see you’ve returned.
It is nice to hear from you again Wren! I hope the healing power of time is working for you.
It looks pretty cold there but we haven’t gotten any winter really, here in Northern California. I’m hoping we get enough rain to fill my well this summer and a drought is not in store. I wish you all the best!
Thanks, Larry. Time has helped, both healing and finishing the work that comes with an illness and death.
Like you, I’m concerned about spring with the lack of winter precipitation. No well for us, though, so a little less urgent a concern. I don’t think those of us outside the area think about there being drought in northern California.
Hurray for winter and snow!
This winter I’m coming to expect no winter. Glad to see a post, Wren.
Thanks, Marvin. I’d call what we’re getting winter, but then maybe I haven’t completely left my southern roots behind.
Thanks! I’m hoping to be able both to blog and to visit blogs more than in the last few months., because I miss all of you who are blog friends.
We’ve been blessed with a relatively warm winter this year, so it hasn’t been hard to stay warm, even outside. I just can’t let myself get used to it, because there’s always next year!
Well, hello there!! Was thinking about you just yesterday, by golly! Hope you’re staying warm and cozy.~karen
