If you’ve been reading here for a while, you know I really like cormorants and darters. Not only are they beautiful, they are smart – what a great combination. This Australian Darter lives at the Australia Zoo. Isn’t he beautiful?

I blog here as Wren, taking the Carolina Wren as my namesake, avatar, and totem.
Wrens are bright, cheerful, faithful little birds. I hope I can be the same and brighten your day when you visit. I'm proud to call myself a nature lover and tree hugger, and hope that sharing here will contribute to bettering this world of ours and inspiring a love of nature in my visitors.
Thank you for being here, for commenting, for helping to build a strong community of nature lovers, and for doing so much for nature, for wildlife, and for people in the "real" world.

Yes it’s beautiful. It’s my first time to see this kind of bird.
oh. yes, he is beautiful. Especially when spreading its wings like that. Great capture.
Beautiful shot Wren! I would love to see one in person. They must be spectacular up close.
Great to see its wings spread open like that. Terrific photo. Carol
He’s awesome!
And he’s posing just for you to show off his beautiful plumage
Wren: Certainly has a cormorant look about it.
and you know how I love cormorants ….
Lovely photo and a very typical pose for this bird. I hope you saw cormorants as well.
I did, though at more of a distance so the photos are nothing much.
It is a beautiuful bird. The Darter looks very similiar to the Cormorants. Is it Australia’s vesion of a Cormorants.
Eileen, They are related, as are anhingas. All beautiful and graceful.
