Back down the river (My World)

The last animal I saw at the Koala Sanctuary was this monitor, who was quite enjoying the midday sun.

Monitor, sunny side up

Then it was back on the boat, and back to the city. We were on an excursion trip to the sanctuary, but it’s also possible to get around Brisbane using the buses and water taxis.

CityCat, Brisbane

In both directions, we passed a tree where someone was taking a nap. I missed getting a photo on the way up, but managed one on our return. I don’t think he moved in between.

That's what I call a BIG snake

I quite enjoy snakes and lizards! You do get around, Wren. Nice photo essay. I think I’ll felt a carolina wren tonight…

I appreciate them much more than I used to. I think the glass lizards are becoming my favs, but it’s also very much a case of which species I’ve seen most recently. If you can’t be with the one you love ….

And dying to see the felt wren, of course.

Those are great shots. I think I’d be glad the snake was napping.

Wonderful trip! Glad the snake didn’t move and the water taxi looks like fun. I’ve a soft spot for lizards! Perfect post for me!

What a lovely adventure! How long were you in Australia?

12 Wren November 2, 2009 at 7:20 pm

Two weeks, but one of those was spent inside a convention center.

Fortunately, there was a lot of river between the boat I was in and the tree the snake was in. Nonetheless I am indeed glad he stayed put.
