I blog here as Wren, taking the Carolina Wren as my namesake, avatar, and totem.

Vicki, there’s a place in our guestroom any time you want to visit (and not stay with the offspring). Clearly I need a trip to Franklin to compare cider and mills.

Ah- I miss Michigan. And this cider mill. AND the Franklin Cider Mill. In the 1950s it was all apples, donuts and taffy with a giant water wheel- by the 80s it was overrun, too crowded and too touristy- but, like Deb, it was the cider mill of my childhood.
And how are you, Ms Wren? Love these photos.
Deborah – I haven’t been to the mill in Franklin, but I’ll certainly keep it in mind for future trips.
lawstude – all cider mills have apples (and cider, and usually pies and dumplings and other apple goodies). Some, like this one, have lots of other stuff, too, but it’s not required – just more fun.
bev – I like the tangier, less sweet pressings myself. Michigan cider in general is pretty good, especially if you get it fresh.
Fishing guy – thanks much. I had a great time and it’s always fun to share the pictures with others.
Wren: wonderful shots from the apple farm, nicely done.
I used to go to a cider mill that had the BEST cider donuts and cider, of course. I LOVE the first pressing of cider when it is still nice and sharp. Later in the season it gets too sweet for me.
i always thought that cider mill is just for apples. i guess i am wrong. i love the farms with ducks and horses and other animals and if ever i find time, i do leave city life to enjoy the farm. great post. thanks for sharing.
Looks like a really neat place. My childhood memories are of the cider mill in Franklin, MI – have you been to that one?
