When we came back from our travels, the robin’s nest above our patio was empty. I was disappointed, thinking the nest had failed. Then, a few days ago, I saw mom and baby robin in the yard. Baby is following, begging, and getting fed in turn – a reassuring normalcy. And even better, I saw last night that momma bird has adopted another of the robin condos and is sitting on a nest again.
Even though I haven’t been able to get pictures, there’s been a wonderful parade of wildlife to observe. A great blue heron in the wetlands, a bobcat in the far fields, and four deer frolicking across the way. Plus the usual assortment of song birds, doves, rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks. And best of all, the prospect this weekend of time to sit and watch.

seabrooke – it’s funny when the babies get a little older and mom and dad start ignoring them to get them to feed themselves. You can just see “does not compute” on junior’s face.
sandpiper – thanks! the cat was a rare and fluky sighting, making it even more of a treasure.
Wow! A bobcat! I haven’t seen on in years! Love the robins.
I love watching baby birds following their parents around. You have to wonder what’s going through the parents’ heads, and just how relieved they are when the kids go down for their nap.
scienceguy, it was a fluke I had my binos at the right time. I thought it was a dog until I took the closer look.
A bobcat in the wild…that is quite a rare privelage to witness!
Vicki – WHAT??? You were in Ann Arbor?
